Milan beat Genoa to move up to fourth place in Serie A

Second-half goals from Fabio Borini and Suso were enough to give AC Milan a 2-0 win over Genoa and lift them up to fourth place in Serie A.

Genoa were without the suspended Krzysztof Piatek, who is expected to complete a move to Milan in the coming days, and his absence was felt as the hosts created several chances which they failed to finish off.

Milan goalkeeper Gialnluigi Donnarumma produced an assured display to prevent his side going behind with a string of saves.

However, having held on, the Rossoneri — whose manager Gennaro Gattuso was watching from the stands as he served a suspension — took the lead on 72 minutes as Borini finished off from close range following a cut back from Andrea Conti.

And Suso made the points safe as he added a second on 83 minutes when he was played through by Patrick Cutrone and produced a rare right-foot finish into the bottom corner.

The result lifts Milan above Roma and Lazio and into fourth place, while Genoa remain in 14th place — six points above the relegation zone.
